Job Title: Personal Assistant / Carer. Knypersley
Hours: 0-5 hours per week
You will be required to support this family for 0-5 hours per week, it will be necessary to request that you are flexible with your hours depending on the families needs. This will be discussed with you with at least one weeks notice. It will usually be during the evenings or occasionally at weekends or school holidays.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Mum is seeking support with her plans to extend and develop the support and activities for her disabled daughter; this may involve time accessing community facilities as well as in the home environment.
Job Purpose: To support and assist this little girl with all the routine tasks such as eating; dressing; washing and personal needs. To support her to enjoy the activities that she chooses.
RATE OF PAY: £7.50 per hour at all times.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Directly accountable to and taking direction from the employer (parent).
MAIN TASKS:
The post requires a very special person who will offer the appropriate level of support, to enable this little girl to enjoy her activities and will promote her development into adulthood.
You will be required to play and be involved in activities that she enjoys.
The position may require you to assist in activities outside the home, allowing her to access the activities of her or her parent’s choice.
Assist with care tasks, helping / making snacks and drinks as required.
Assistance with personal care needs is required whilst demonstrating respect for her dignity.
Assist with encouraging her to make choices at any opportunity.
You would need to ensure that this little girl’s safety is maintained at all times. 1:1 supervision is required at all times.
You would need to ensure that her dietary restrictions are addressed.
You would need to support this little girl with her communication methods; Mum will support you with the TEACCH system if required.
Feedback any information you feel is of interest regarding her health and wellbeing.
Be aware of procedures for accessing additional support should it be required.
To carry out other duties or activities connected with the role which the employer may reasonably request.
Demonstrate an understanding and have a positive attitude towards a young person with a disability.
Demonstrate an awareness of safeguarding practices in relation to children and vulnerable people.
Have knowledge of equal opportunities.

A new Criminal Records Bureau disclosure check is required for the post. The cost of this will be covered by your employer.
The post is subject to 3 months probationary period.

Essential Criteria
• Must drive and have access to a car. Must hold a full clean driving licence and fully Comprehensive insurance with business class extension. If any additional cost is incurred, this will NOT be met by the employer
• The applicant must have a genuine interest in this area of care and must be able to demonstrate commitment and loyalty.

The employer operates a safeguarding children's policy. The personal assistant will be required to have a new enhanced CRB check. This will be arranged by your employer at no cost to the applicant. Please be aware that this procedure does take some time and the applicant would be unable to start work until clearance had been received.
