Cnc tool Manufacturer Cell Leader
The position is for an operator/technician to run a 6 axis EWAMATIC tool grinding machine and supervise a team of support operators in order to produce cutting tools marketed through the global sales organisation.
Formal Qualifications
Preferably a toolmaker who has completed a formal apprenticeship.
New product development experience with 6 axis machinery
Good maths capability.
Significant CNC programming training.
Supervisor/Team Leader formal qualification
Good command of the English language both written and spoken
Special Training
Ewamatic operator maintenance training (to provide machine servicing and breakdown support).
Or
Significant experience of supporting a sophisticated CNC machining center.
Experience
As the position encompasses the role of cell leader then experience of leading and motivating teams and training staff is essential. - Minimum 3 years.
Experience in high tolerance small batch environments for aerospace or automotive industries producing PCD/CBN tooling – minimum 5 years
Experience in writing CNC programmes as these are complex machines which do not support CAD/CAM post processing. – minimum 5 years
The individual must be fully conversant with reading engineering drawings and be able to work to high tolerances. Use of microscopes is a necessity – minimum 5 years
Key Operational tasks
The Ewamatic operator/section leader is expected to be fully conversant with this 6 axis machine tool grinding machine and to be competent to perform basic to medium level maintenance tasks in addition to new product development support.
Experience in high tolerance small batch environments producing PCBN/PCD for aerospace or automotive industries is required and the section leader will be responsible for the maintenence of quality standards.
The post holder will be responsible for specifying tool ‘holders’ necessary to replace worn parts and to support new designs as required. In addition a record of the tooling and its functional condition will neeed to be maintained.
Consumable parts stock checks and requisitions will need to be managed by the post holder to ensure he always has enough materials of the right grade.
The writing and checking of CNC programmes for these complex machines (which do not support CAD/CAM post processing) is a key element of the job role experience does not necessarily need to have been gained from ‘NUM’ software as FANUC based programming has previously been shown to be a good entry skill for this role.
The cell leader will be responsible for establishing a manufacturing cell which will include training team members to both programme and run Ewamatics as well as carryout support functions (CNC wirecut, surface grinding, brazing etc).
The EWAG cell leader is expected to own the OTIF compliance for PCBN tooling. As such they will work with planning and commercial functions to ensure the necessary labour is available to complete tool manufacture to supplied schedules with fully trained operators.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Initially single day shift (a move to shift work possible in the future)
Flexibility to support weekends and evenings as required.
Working Location
UK Staverton Northhamptonshire (between Coventry and Northhapmton) initial 6 – 12 months, then Kolo Poland.
